Today, students at Washington Elementary had a truly unforgettable experience as the Beardsley Zoo paid a special visit to their school! During the visit, students learned all about animal enrichment — including how animals need opportunities to play, eat, explore, and stay mentally and physically active, just like people do. The presentation also included fascinating animal artifacts, giving students a hands-on look at items like feathers, shells, and bones used in zoo education programs.
The highlight of the day was meeting some incredible animal ambassadors in person. Students had the chance to see Igor the tortoise 🐢, Lucy the snake 🐍, and Zarry the parrot 🦜 up close. The room was filled with excitement, curiosity, and plenty of smiles as students interacted with these friendly creatures. A big thank you to the Beardsley Zoo for bringing such an engaging and educational experience to Washington Elementary. It was truly a day to remember! 🎉

Held at each elementary school, incoming kindergartners and their families had the opportunity to meet the school principal, kindergarten teachers, and paraprofessionals. It was a special day of connection and excitement as both students and parents got a first look at the school experience ahead.
While students participated in a fun, interactive reading session, parents received an informative presentation covering daily schedules, transportation, safety protocols, communication options, attendance, and school policies.
