Kim Asarisi | Pagels Elementary School | 1st Grade Teacher
About: I have been working in the West Haven Public School system for the past 20 years. I started at Molloy teaching kindergarten, Washington teaching 2nd and 1st, and now Pagels for the past 14 years teaching 1st grade.
Fun Fact: I enjoy reading, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also very good (and competitive) at mini golf!
Favorite Quote: “Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning, just give hope a chance to float up and it will.” – from Hope Floats
Favorite Part About the Job: Teaching is so very rewarding, and even when it's challenging, there's always tomorrow to start again. We all have our days — both as children and adults. I’ve learned so much from my students over the years and hope I’ve instilled a love of learning in them as well. My school has been my family, support, and comfort for the past 14 years. I am so lucky to be part of such an amazing community! My kids bring me so much happiness — even on my worst days, I find something to laugh at with them.
Sal Tuozzola | Carrigan Intermediate School | Special Education Teacher
About: I have been working at Carrigan for the last 8 years — 1 year student teaching and subbing, 5 as a Humanities teacher, and the last 2 as a special education teacher.
Fun Fact: I have a black cat named Winnie, named after one of my favorite bands. Some of my hobbies include watching my favorite sports teams (Eagles, Yankees, and UConn Huskies), traveling with my amazing girlfriend, and attending concerts.
Favorite Quote: “Life has no limitations, except the ones you make.” – Les Brown
Favorite Part About the Job: I enjoy working with the students of Carrigan and trying to make a real impact on our students as learners and people. The sense of community is what makes Carrigan a truly special place. I can call many of my colleagues friends, and it makes coming to work each day that much better.
