Some of our Carrigan Intermediate School students recently participated in an Earth Day presentation with the Land Trust of West Haven. More than a dozen 6th-graders showcased sustainability-themed projects that they completed as part of their science class, with prizes awarded to the top three projects following judging by a panel of science experts. Congratulations to the winners:

1st place went to Christian Scanlon from Mr. Glagowski's class: His project centered on air pollution and the technological advances being made in current times to combat levels of pollution in the atmosphere.

2nd place went to Bryan Barrington from Ms. Iuteri's class: His project focused on how LEDs are the most efficient type of light bulb today and how the environment benefits when we replace regular incandescent bulbs with LEDs.

3rd place went to Farrah Najjari from Ms. Dady's class: Her project was on deforestation and the impact it has on the global environment, including our own populations and all living things.
